Job Description:

The DeForest Group is interviewing freelance production artists with expert Mac software skills, knowledge of print production and a solid understanding of graphic design.

Qualifications - you can...

- handle a mac and graphics software comfortably
- prepare press-ready files for offset, flexo and digital printing
- work with process and spot colors, layouts and typography
- set up crops and bleeds in an Illustrator file
- work with manage linked and embedded images in Illustrator, Indesign, and Quark
- keep digital files organized, and follow file naming protocols in a workgroup setting
- work with multi-layer files
- retouch images - create and draw vector diagrams and dies - make quality clipping paths
- work with the various graphics file formats
- create comps, mount and trim artwork for presentations
- attend to details and follow instructions
- understand, verbalize and write well - including computer and graphic design "lingo"
- take direction from designers, project managers and directors
- switch tasks quickly and frequently and to work on different projects concurrently
- understand the important questions to ask
